N5A New Yorker, early 1990s. Helmet was sent to Cairns for a repaint. What you see is exactly what you would get nowadays if you sent a helmet back to Cairns for a repaint. Unfortunately the damage was already done and there was only so much we could do. Cairns media blasted the helmet to remove the old paint, and it almost destroyed the surface of the leather. Their paint process also resulted in very bad orange peel - virtually no definiton of the leather anywhere on the helmet anymore. We did the best we could....repaint in black, old style brass installed, and new reflective trim.
